Walid is Casting Coordinator with Atmospheric Pictures

Walid will be the casting coordinator for the featured actors and extras in "A CHRISTMAS KISS" (pre-titled "Nutcracker") a holiday romantic comedy to be released straight to TV next winter. Thanks to Andrea Ajemian for this oppertunity!

The film follows an interior design assistant who shares a magical kiss in an elevator with a handsome stranger.  She thinks he may be her true love, only to find out the next day that he is her boss’ boyfriend who has been traveling.  Nutcracker is being produced by Atmospheric Pictures and Moody Independent of Boston, Massachusetts.  A local crew has been hired. The film is being directed by John Stimpson (The Legend of Lucy Keyes), and stars Elisabeth Rohm (Law and Order, Heroes) and Brendan Fehr (Roswell, CSI Miami).  “A Christmas Kiss” will be shooting in Richmond this November.

"Potato chip bag skirts and newspaper shirts were all the fashion rage when Moonlit Wings campers took the stage for their one and only production of “OZ!!” last Friday, Aug. 6 at Providence Recreation Center in Falls Church... ...This newly created version was based around the theme “live clean, go green,” particularly focusing on “reduce, reuse, recycle.” This theme was incorporated not only into the redone story of the play, but also into the technical aspects of it."

Walid is American Theatre Wings "SpringBoardNYC" 2010 Director Canidate

Walid will be attending the American Theatre Wings "SpringBoardNYC" program June 7 - 18 as the director canidate, located at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Thanks to Randy Lutterman and the ATW!

SPRINGBOARDNYC is a two week concentrated pre-professional training course for college students planning careers in the theatre. We provide the job-seeking skills, insight into the business of theatre and the urban survival tools necessary to translate academic training into a productive career. The curriculum includes a series of workshops, seminars, master classes and field trips, placing participants in the center of New York's theatrical community, with access to influential working artists.

Theatre VCU presents “The Who’s Tommy,” winner of five Tony Awards, this month at the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Featuring Walid Chaya in the Ensemble.

The electrifying musical, which traces a young boy’s journey fromtragedy to triumph, was borne out of The Who’s famous 1969 rock opera,“Tommy,” composed largely by Pete Townshend. Theatre VCU’s raucousperformance will include a live band that will play such songs as “SeeMe, Feel Me,” “Acid Queen,” “Pinball Wizard,” “I’m Free” and “Tommy,Can You Hear Me?”

Barry Bell, assistant professor of acting and directing at VCU, willdirect the performance. He previously has directed “Dracula,” “HAIR,”“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” and “Wait Until Dark” for Theatre VCU.

“The Who’s Tommy” has performances on April 8-10, 15-17 and 22-24 at7:30 p.m. and on April 11, 18 and 25 at 3 p.m. In addition, Theatre VCUwill hold three matinee performances for high school students. Ticketprices are: general admission tickets -- $25; seniors, VCU faculty andstaff -- $20; VCU students with a valid ID -- $10; and groups of 15 or more -- $20 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Hodges Theatre BoxOffice on the first floor of the Singleton Center or by calling the boxoffice at (804) 828-6026 or e-mailing theatretix@vcu.edu.
